A simple and elegant design for Polish TV HQ proposed by CROPKA architects studio in association with FORUM Architekci has been awarded in an open international design competition.
The building's simple, yet elegant form houses two large television studios with an additional high level fully glazed panoramic studio providing excellent views of the Warsaw's urban-scape. In the very heart of the building's west block we have planned the newsroom space - a focal point of the design where the latest news is being prepared for broadcasting in the studios. The newsroom itself has been designed as a living background for the recording studios. A central gate divides the building into distinctive sections - west block designed for TVP use and east block mainly focused on ancilliary functions - rental offices, restaurant and bank. The east block also provides access to the finest collection of media archive in the Central Europe.
The design stretches beyond the buidling itself and proposes an overall reconsideration of TVP's campus masterplan. Starting at the newly proposed building, a covered public plaza creates a vibrant zone for public events, exhibitions and activities. From here the plaza stretches north encompassing new entrance space to the Warsaw's finest concert hall. The central axis of the campus continues south gradually turning into a green park.
