A Harmonious Marriage of Modern and Traditional
Her taste was modern, he wanted traditional. Our client purchased a site in the Pacific Palisades with a golf course view to build their dream house. While the couple came to us with two different visions, the ATA design team crafted a harmonious home with a traditional plan and shape that remains very modern in its detail.
Traditional materials were layered upon each other and detailed using modern techniques which show the skill and craft of the builder. The overall feel of the house is warm and light filled. The result is a balanced marriage that feels inventive yet timeless.
The expansive home boasts over 15,000 square feet of living space with custom, high-end finishes. In addition to the interior living spaces, the home also has an outdoor living room with built-in fireplace with an outdoor sun deck just above it, as well as an outdoor dining area. A zero edge pool and hot tub can be found on the beautiful property grounds next to a built-in fire pit with additional lounge seating.
Steel trowel stucco and white interior walls are accentuated with the dark contrast of walnut flooring, paneling and windows. The material palette also includes flamed limestone from Wisconsin, bronze cladding, and black slate roofing from Virginia.
