The Naperville Performing Arts Center is designed as one of the focal points of a large commercial, entertainment, and hotel development in Naperville, Illinois. The faceted glass facade projects the cultural institution’s focus on music and musical theater out into the public thoroughfare. A meandering two-story lobby space also engages the pedestrians on the sidewalk, by creating niches both inside and outside.
The 820-seat theater is designed to accommodate large musical theater productions, as well as pop music performances and film screenings. The striated elements from the facade are used to create the interior theater enclosure and echo the outreach of the arts into the audience.
