NanoString wanted to provide a working environment for its employees that was open and would provide exterior views for the employees. On the second floor of a new research and development building, the 15,000 square foot space has a 50/50 ratio of laboratory space and office/administration space and was designed with both laboratory and office workspaces on the perimeter of the building with auxiliary support spaces on the interior. Natural light is brought into interior spaces using large sidelights and interior windows. Colors, details and finishes were selected to be a fusion of the NanoString corporate color palate and the finishes on the existing shell building.
