The Nanjing No. 72 courtyard project is located in the important historical area of the Drum Tower in Nanjing. There are dozens of Metasequoia and phoenix trees over 70 years old in the site. The most important thing is that it is adjacent to the cultural preservation building designed by Mr. Yang Tingbao - the former site of the Central Chinese Painting. It is also a rare modern enclosed, low-rise and low-density building complex in the city center.
The project has a total construction area of 43,540 square meters and a height of 4 floors. The main function is creative office and exhibition. The strategy adopted in the design is that the 3 surrounding buildings in the 5 buildings have sloping roofs, forming a complete surrounding image together with the sloping roofs of the old buildings.
Convergent Design
The modern construction of traditional buildings should not be blindly reproduced and copied, nor should it be unconventional and radical, but should be a "convergent design" that respects the traditional architectural style, proportion and color, but adopts contemporary architectural techniques in the completion of the landing. , giving the building new expressiveness.
Ingenuity in the design system
Behind the classical aesthetics of traditional architecture is the embodiment of ingenuity, behind the timeless design is the persistent pursuit of every detail, and the meticulous deliberation of details, proportions and materials enables the presentation of splendid works. The refined design system is based on the goal of completion. Through integrated design and whole-process control, the proportion, details and texture are progressively considered layer by layer. On the basis of the plan, it is continuously refined and sublimated. Sanding, constantly perfecting the building.
Dialogue between old and new buildings
We often say that "God exists in the details". Brick (gray), stone (white) and wood (red) are the materials and colors used by Yang Lao when designing old buildings, and most of the old buildings in Nanjing are like this. The dialogue between old buildings follows a principle “contrast in coordination, and response in contrast”. The two glass boxes adjacent to the new building and the old building are exactly the two glass boxes. There is a drainage fir between the old and new buildings. The designer separated and extracted the facade of the old buildings, and then innovatively used profiles + stone to echo the materials and colors of the old buildings.
