'Nanchang Wave’ Landmark Tower & Community Center in Nanchang covers an area of 0.4 ha, plus a landscape area of 2 ha.
The architects from the Nordic Office of Architecture propose an overall concept, Nanchang Wave, which is consisted of a landmark spiral tower (symbolizing the sky) and a horizontal commercial building (as the base of the tower). Facing of such an exotic design, the goal of the landscape design is to softly land on and return to the local culture under the avant-garde appearance. The Project is located on the shore of the Xianghu Wetland. The delicate expression of water forms and personalities, as described in "Twelve Waters” by Ma Yuan from the Southern Song Dynasty (1127-1279), is transposed in the site through the landscape sequence related to the water experience in the project design. The water forms include turbulent, still or spiral, which are transformed as spaces. According to the design, the dense waterfall is used to attract popularity, the still water surface to the reflect buildings, the interactive water curtain swing to create funs... extending the unitary shopping space onto a comprehensive cultural venue for stress release, social gathering, leisure and entertainment.
