Designed by
Zoom-TPU, Tiara Jewelry Store is located in a building named
Nakkaş, in the heart of the historic site of Istanbul near
Sultanahmet Mosque, a magnet area for both local and international
tourists. The structure is built on a historic cistern, using metal
frame structures to prevent any possible damage to the cistern. The
building is a home owner to various authentic stores, including a
jewelry store. The interior architecture of the store reflects the
historic construction of the cistern in combination with Ottoman
influenced design elements and motives.
Designing a
store in a historic site has been quite triggering on the designers,
also the display of such a rich collection encouraged them during the
work process with such a distinct enjoyment factor. For this project,
the harmony of the product, space and the environment and the
togetherness of the users and the clients in the sales process were
important factors to consider, even thought the limited amount of
work time resulted in occasional obstacles. The presentation of the
products, lighting design, the selection of the color schemes and the
distinctly selected materials were especially enjoyable in the design
process of this store, which is also a process that resulted in
delightful interactions with the client.
Since jewelry is
an expensive and special product, there are important factors to
consider when displaying such an elegant material. The most important
aspect of jewelry is the high price and the time and effort required
in the selection process. However, some clients do not have time for
such time-consuming selection process. In this case, jewelry should
grab the attention of the clients the moment they step in the store.
The background and appropriate level of the displays, the amount of
light and the material selections are important factors in capturing
the client’s attention. It is also significant to provide comfort
for the clients in jewelry stores. Therefore, the interior design of
this store reflects the history of this historic peninsula; with its
selective color choice, pattern, texture and details that would offer
a concept of a relaxed and worry-free environment for its clients.
There are also some architectural and decorative elements that are
specifically designed for this store to reflect the characteristics
of this stylish atmosphere. These include wall partitions and display
cases that are designed using Ottoman influenced motives.
