While this project is confined to a modest 6'x9' space, it is the multi-functional aspects of the room that the project mostly addresses. The owners requested that the
room be capable of housing five guitars, amps, and recording
paraphernalia, as well as provide storage for books and other
artifacts. They also needed enough remaining space to allow instruments to be played and music to be recorded. To
date, the
room has been outfitted with built-in furniture that serves the owner's
requests. It has been constructed with 1in. plywood with
endgrains exposed. A high pressure laminate has been adhered to all
exposed surfaces and a sound absorbent wool backing has been applied to
the rear panel of all furniture modules. 1/2" thick sheets of
wool will line the walls in the future and provide a hermetically
enclosed room, as well as act as a sound absorbent material, necessary
for recording music.
