The project works as an articulator of the different areas of the campus through the succession of multiple meeting spaces at different scales is a system of trails. Mobilize your users through stairways and ramps around and through the building, providing the place for great flexibility in their occupation. (perspective)
The project adapts to the topography, staggering is to reduce their heights and not impact them visual of them buildings located towards the East respecting its historic value, and generating a scenario towards the new development of the block C to communicate the knowledge generated in classrooms. The scenario becomes a point of encounter of all the circulations from different corners of the campus. The idea of touring and access from outside the spaces of the architectural program, allows to minimize the built-up areas of circulation and increases the useful area of the interior spaces. The program was carefully distributed in space according to the needs of communication and control, lighting, movement, height and acoustic insulation.
The spaces of the program with greater need of acoustic insulation are located in the lower floors, protecting their perimeter by the wall of containment of the terrain.
Cinema studio requires greater height in order to comply with the dolby certification, the volume is located on the ground level and tied with the existing pedestrian bridge. (cross section)
Selected stone is the main material of the facade, due to its excellent properties of acoustic insulation, its landscape quality to blend in with the vegetation and the environment, as well as a representative material of the campus and the traditional architecture of Bogota.
The idea to the future is that the vegetation predominates and the volumes appear hidden in the mountains, forming thus a garden for the music.
The stone allows the continuous growth of vegetation on walls and facades. A living building that eventually will destroy in the campus and the eastern hills. The green roof serves as acoustic insulation and reduces noise pollution, a requirement essential for the program of the project by 10 decibels. It also serves as natural thermal regulator to cool spaces in high temperatures and protect them from the wind that mounts low and penetrating sun from noon. (Image 4,5,6)
Access to the large practice room becomes a versatile stage where different campus events may take place.
Its location in the building and the campus, and space to be able to integrate with the discovered stage conditions allow the large practice room the possibility of developing interdisciplinary events and expand the experience of different arts that can coexist in this place.
