The Muscowpetung Powwow Arbour considers and harnesses local knowledge, labour, and materials. Designed in collaboration with Richard Kroeker, the project prioritizes community engagement and traditional Saulteaux perspectives to inform the structural design and architectural expression. The design of the Arbour embraces the traditional knowledge of band members by incorporating regionally-sourced round timber and a system of cables that works like the stored energy of a drawn bow-string and the tensioning elements of drum heads.
