Removing a corner of an existing center stair colonial house allowed a family room addition (with expansive windows directed to the adjacent woods) and a generous modern kitchen/dining area with an auxiliary entry. A new porch at the adjacent corner has wide stairs that allow for unobstructed views, and was designed to provide circuitous circulation by connecting to the existing porch and to the family room. A variety of storage (including a freestanding pantry) provides places for necessities and luxuries including electronic equipment, school supplies, a small home office, and outdoor gear.
