Mural Apartments at MacArthur BART station is an ETOD (Equitable Transit Oriented Development) component of the MacArthur Transit Village -- a master plan to redevelop the existing station parking lot into a mixed-use transit oriented development.
The building is five stories of residential type III-A wood framing over a sub-grade concrete parking
garage of type I-A construction. The project provides 90 units of affordable family housing: two studios, 22 one bedroom, 29 two-bedroom, and 37 three-bedroom units at density of 115 du/acre. Common area facilities include two landscaped courtyards, a community room, through-block lobby, bicycle parking and laundry facilities.
The project coordinates with Master Developer street improvements including offsite sidewalks, landscaping and green infrastructure . The project uses a solar thermal domestic hot water system that serves 40% of the domestic hot water load, and the project is prewired for future photovoltaic installation. Sustainable design features including Energy Star certified appliances, Permeable Paving, and low VOC materials helped the project earn a Green Point Platinum rating of 168.
