A LIVEABLE MIX-USE NEIGHBOURHOOD
Juul | Frost Architects have put their interdisciplinary skills into play in the development of Munkebjerg Park.
The studio has been responsible for the area’s district plan, which shows how the green field area can be developed into a dense and liveable mix-use neighbourhood with family-, student- and senior housing, offices, hotel, day care centre, commerce, all connected by green recreative areas Munkebjerg Park is an example of how a holistic approach across planning- and design phases can secure a green, liveable neighbourhood that promotes social, physical and mental well-being. On the basis of the district plan Juul | Frost Architects have been responsible for every design phase from appraisal to construction on all new buildings, landscapes and urban spaces.
DIVERSITY IN DWELLINGS AND DEMOGRAPHIC DIVERSITY
Munkebjergvænget comprises 145 rental apartments, ranging from 60 to 166 m2 an varying from 2-, 3- and 4-bedroom apartments to penthouses. The variety in apartment sizes is a basis for demographic diversity: the building can accommodate both singles, couples, families and elderly people. Juul | Frost Architects have emphasized spaciousness, a good indoor climate and optimal daylight conditions, and all the apart- ments have one or more balconies or terraces with access to the neighbourhood park.
CLIMATE ADAPTION AS A SOCIAL LINK
The integrated park both functions as a climate adaptation and the neighbourhood’s common area. The water sensitive landscape is designed to manage increasing amounts of rain, and turns cloudbursts into a potential for a lush landscape with lakes, a high biodiversity and various open spaces and activities.
