A 6,000 seats coliseum was designed for the Municipality of Vega Baja. The roof was divided into seven layers that interweave between each other allowing natural daylight to reach it’s interior while giving the building a unique sculpture-like form. It’s first floor plan opens to the outdoor plaza allowing the facilities to integrate exterior activities. Developed as a multi-use public activity center, the New Municipal Coliseum, along with the Casa Portela Museum, plays a vital role in the master plan for the revitalization of Vega Baja.
