The reception center is located at the entrance of Liuba Scenic Spot in Hanzhong on a platform in the foothills, next to a small parking lot. Its main functions include: reception consultation in the scenic spot, supporting toilets, and sales of creative cultural products. The basic elements of the building are clearly divided into roof, structure, wall and ground. Under three pieces of large roofs, there are space for use, namely reception space, open public space and public toilet.
There are three different internal and external handover relationships between the wood column net and the wall: the wood column net is entirely located inside the wall, while the wood structure columns of the roof of the public toilet are all exposed on the outside. The roof of the open public space is on the same axis with the wall, biting together. The juxtaposition of these relationships adds to the fun side of the space.
Small laminated wood is used for the rood, while Douglas – fir board and red cedar shingles are presented in warm yellow. The wall and the floor are made of cast-in-place bamboo formwork concrete, washed stone steps, outdoor paving of old stone slab and indoor terrazzo floor, forming a similar gray tone.
In the architecture, we construct the contrast of roughness and delicacy, the harmony of warm and gray, and the interposition of light and heavy.
Sense of public has always been concerned and discussed in our works. In this architecture, the sense of public as a tribute is also fully considered. Not much space is left for pure indoor area, so most open gray space is suitable for people to sit for a rest or a chat and to walk through.
