In 2010, OHPD embarked alongside an interdisciplinary team of assessors to develop a long-rance facility plan for Mt. Hood Community College. This plan is still in effect today.

The project team performed inspections of the college’s major building systems that have a direct impact on student performance and overall comfort and productivity. An Educational Adequacy Assessment was included in this scope. This adequacy assessment qualified the adequacy of the buildings to meet the educational needs of the students in 21st Century Learning. The resulting assessment report documented the findings and provided a framework for the construction of necessary renovations.
The master plan provide
d analysis of 880,000 SF of existing buildings and their utilization, including technology, electrical, and infrastructural assessments. The plan’s chief recommendation aligned the campus mall’s open green space with the new campus entrance and recommended new building placement.

The first phase of recommended campus improvements included a new Applied Technology Building and Student Success Center, which serves as a central hub and critical gathering space to meet student needs. Other topics covered by this plan were seismic upgrades, technological modernizations, ADA accessibility, and campus wayfinding infrastructure. To achieve the college’s desired outcomes, over 250,000 SF of new construction was recommended alongside target reinvestment and modernization efforts for existing buildings and systems.
