A Mountain Settlement
A project for year-round residential and guest buildings located in the Karkonosze Mountains.
THEZA:
Design modular houses with a small footprint in wooden, prefabricated construction, allowing for a variety of configurations and arrangements within a single structural frame, forming the first phase of a recreational complex.
IDEA:
The planned investment is located on a picturesque mountain pass, offering exceptional views of the surrounding landscape. When planning the development of a group of small buildings, it was necessary to reflect the local character of settlements and small hamlets nestled in the mountain landscape. To achieve this, a compact urban layout was needed, allowing for dense development that protects against mountain weather conditions and employs an irregular rhythm of buildings, giving the impression of a natural settlement. Therefore, a checkerboard layout with varied configurations of successive rows of buildings was used, allowing for comfortable view openings and a unique perception of the designed development from every point in the area.
Given the orientation of the cardinal directions, the designed two-story buildings with habitable attics were given shed roofs covered with photovoltaic panels facing south. By shaping the form, the peak of the building was positioned in the northern corner, emphasizing the dynamism of the form and allowing for natural view openings from within the buildings.
