TRO Jung|Brannen was retained to design the first major addition to this historic structure. The addition includes a world class spa with 13 treatment rooms, a conference center and a major upgrade and renovation of the fitness center. The 50,000 square foot project is part of a larger master plan for the resort and includes the creation of outdoor function areas, a roof terrace and garden, expansion of the famous verandas facing Mount Washington, and the creation of a new swimming pool and pool cabana.
The green roof adorning the spa and conference center, titled the Jewell Terrace, is highly energy efficient. It helps keep the underlying building warmer in winter months and cooler in summer. It also minimizes stormwater runoff by capturing rain for irrigation use.
