The goal was to capture all aspects of a motorway maintenance depot in an architectural overall concept.
For the conception this means that all different functional areas are summarized into one compact building. The available site lies next to a motorway and it is enclosed on two sides on a country road. The motorway is the main structural urbanized reference here. In a static rhythm of high and low building parts the building form follows the steady movement of the accompanying motorway.
The building is divided into four functional areas. These areas are: administration, workshop, garages and storage areas.
The single-storey administration area forms the prelude. Here are the management, assembly room and social facilities accommodated.
Following to the administration area opens up the workshop. It includes the truck maintenance area, the truck wash facility, equipment rooms and some storage possibilitys. In some areas the workshop is planned two-storey.
The following garages offer parking spaces for all vehicles such as trucks, snow ploughs and attachements. Additional covered parking in the external space is created through the cantilevered roof of the hall. The end of the building is formed by the salt storage and storage space. Furthermore, in addition to the salt storage the salt and brine silos are located. The hall´s main excess for all vehicles is on the front side. The exits are located on each longside´s of the hall.
At one side, under the cantilevered roof, the gas station is situated.
The operating yard is placed around the building. Here is room for material boxes and containers shelves.
The project was conducted in a joint venture with the engineering firm Emmerich Friedewald (civil engineering).
