The city of Moscow
has developed through the years and it built fence walls along the present
circular streets that spread concentrically. The main line of the Moscow subway
was built in a circle Ring Line. Today's development of the city continues to
define the characteristic radial-round planning, therefore the idea for circles
on the facade. The Pushkinsky theater is located inside the garden ring, and
therefore the idea was imposed that the unused area of the roof, which is of
considerable size, is to be used for a park with an area that will serve as an
ice rink in winter and for roller skating in summer. This brings a person to a
new space in the center of Moscow, a green area with a skating rink on top of
the Pushkinskiy building under semitransparent perforated roof, and therefore
it enables enjoyment of recreation in an interesting space and views of Moscow
by day and especially the famous beauty of Moscow by night. The proposed solution
treats the existing cinema building in a new and modern way, according to an
increasing consumer demands.
Defining a new shell (envelope) of the building creates an entirely new
covered passage, which is suitable for various performances and exhibitions.
The envelope is perforated with circular forms, from smaller to larger, which
together with light effects and commercials undoubtedly creates visual
communication with future customers. These circular forms constitute an
interesting play of light and shadows during the day. At night the effect is entirely the opposite,
since the breakthrough of light from the interior provides an interesting play
of different beams of light to an outside observer.
New facade together with its luminous installations and tectonic circular
"bubbles", hints to every user unforgetable experience of visual and
auditory sensations.
