An elongated, tunnel-like space emphasizes the characteristics of this narrow site. The flow line from the bedroom on the first floor to the living room on the second floor is about 82 feet, gradually changing from a quiet space to a more social space.
The east and south side of the house have more openings, while the west side of the house functions as more of a mechanical and storage space.
The south screen in the living room on the second floor brings filtered moderate light and a comfortable breeze into the area. The pattern of the screen changes through the sliding eight sheets of Shoji.
