Located in the growing fringe of Bangkok surrounded by a canal, grassland and residential area, the seven-storey housing of “Mori Haus” designed to take challenges of fitting high-density dwellings into the local neighborhood. Answering to the owner needs while remaining respectful to its surrounding landscape creates the design that introduces both green elements and comfortable living condition in the project.
This project endeavors to deliver a small village wrapping around the central courtyard, keeping the natural context of the site with a big common area in the center. The design of facility building and landscape is all about encouraging residences to spend their days in the open green courtyard centered by shared facility building. The green roof of the facility building designed to avoid heat transfer from roof surfaces to the rooms. The green roof also creates double layers of green landscape connected to the triangular-shaped part of the site conceived as an urban garden. The facilities building provides works as the main drop off part, letting people walk through the green space before separated into each building. The lobby has an openable sliding window on both sides for natural ventilation and cantilevered flat roof with skylight maximize the inflow of natural light. At the end of the common area is the gym plugged into the landscape area with the glass wall seamlessly blends it to nature around.
All the rooms facing internal have a balcony extended to reach for the greenery. Whereas the rooms facing outside have two types of Facade, balcony, and double skin, are introduced on the side facing outward to create the rhythm of convex and concave surface plants to grow vertically and at the same time adding a distinctive pattern to the facade.
