The Thumbprint House
-Baltimore, MD
The Thumbprint House is the adaptive re-use of an existing carriage house, into a 2 bedroom / 2 bath, single-family "trinity” (one use per floor). The lot is a meager 15'x17', and the structure has a footprint that fills the entire lot, with no setbacks on any side.
The Butcher’s Hill white brick box last housed a small sandwich shop, which was better known for sellingother neighborhood snacks (if you know what we mean).
The front façade of the 2nd and 3rd floors is to be made from two insulated glass garage doors, and on a nice day the whole house will be able to open up to its environment. The 2nd & 3rd floor addition is to be sided with BS 1088 British Standard Hydrotek Meranti multiply marine plywood with a marine epoxy clear coat, or smooth faced HardiePanel, in the "Timber Bark" color.
