We were entrusted to build a stable residence for a five member family on a plot located at an exclusive residential zone in the north of Madrid.
In a present generic world, farther and farther from the nature, this detached house has been planned combining both, the singularity of the plot location and our client express desire to protect and guarantee, above all else, their daily privacy but in a steady contact with the outside surroundings. On the other hand, wishes quite difficult to match nowadays in space and time.
This design has been inspired by a volcano idea, which means, the whole human activity is generated inside protected from the outside public space but at the same time, facing and opened to their private garden with wide visual connections like a blast of light.
One of the main owner requirements was that, every room and social life spaces had to face inwards the plot, opened to the landscape area, never towards public space and roads, despite the short size of the front of the plot to achieve it and, the mandatory and necessary functional independence of every planned area, such as, parents and children rooms, social life areas and even, areas for guests and domestic servant.
Every element is organized around a set of axes which cross themselves, both in plant flour and cross-section, articulating private and social life spaces around outside green surroundings which appear like a inner landscape of the building.
