The Monument Penthouse is a testament to the elegance of simplicity, where architectural purity and a curated material palette harmonise to create a serene yet striking interior. Rooted in minimalist principles, the design celebrates form, natural light, and materiality, stripping away excess to reveal timeless beauty.
Strategically oriented windows frame views of Orrong Park and the Melbourne skyline, connecting the interiors to their urban context. These views, combined with a soft, neutral palette, allow the penthouse to act as a blank canvas for its residents to layer their personality.
The palette evokes sophistication and warmth through a seamless blend of textures. Subtle plaster walls, bleached timbers, and Calcatta Greco marble create an understated yet luxurious ambiance. The interplay of light and shadow enhances the tactile finishes, creating a dynamic spatial experience. A circular skylight above the staircase exemplifies this design ethos, flooding the space with natural light highlighting the curvature of the walls and angularity of the staircase.
The open-plan kitchen embodies restraint and elegance. Floor-to-ceiling cabinetry integrates seamlessly with Gaggenau appliances, while the marble island with chamfered breakfast bar acts as both a sculptural centrepiece and a functional hub. Its natural veining introduces warmth and character, balancing the kitchen’s minimalist aesthetic.
In the living area, a linear fireplace seamlessly emerges from the curved, textured plaster wall, creating an elegant interplay of form and materiality. This minimalist design serves as the room's focal point, accentuating the purity of the surrounding materials and fostering a serene, harmonious atmosphere.
The bathrooms are a sanctuary of marble, with seamless surfaces and honed finishes that reflect light softly. A floating vanity adds contrast, while a freestanding bathtub transforms the space into a tranquil retreat.
