Our project stands as a sustainable alternative to the Baja California's new State University of Environmental Education, which consists of a new campus for 2000 students, including classrooms, faculty building, cafeteria and dorms. Adjacent to the campus is a nature lab, which we call "ECO-PARQUE", where students can use as a real-life LAB and the public can use it as a natural park, with views of the Sierra Madre Mountains and the Pacific Ocean.__________________________________________________________The construction industry is one of the least sustainable activities in the planet, using more than 50% of the plant resources.About half of the emissions that generate global warming are caused by our buildings, in which we spend almost 80% of our lives. We the people, have become an urban specie, which has pulled us apart from nature.Architecture has also become distant from local materials, traditions and the unity with the environment; which has resulted in the separation of the cities from the nature. Our environmental problems can't be solved by architecture itself; it is up to us to create our architecture sustainable for our habitats and for the other species who live in our planet.Sustainability should be understood as the group of values based on our environmental ethics. If we thrive for a sustainable future, then we need to update our industry; Architecture should analyze the life cycles of people, materials and nature. We need to value the resources we use in construction and use them responsibly; spaces should be designed to be healthy, economically affordable and caring to our social needs.A smart use of Natural Resources together with Technology, should result in architecture that balances Energy, Environment and Ecology.___________________________________________________________
