The importance of connecting architecture to the environment in which it exists cannot be overstated. The idea of drawing the landscape which surrounds the Monte Grigio Residence into the spaces of the home was at the center of the design. Located in the Pacific Palisades, the home opens to views of the Ocean and the Santa Monica mountain range. One of the key features of the home are large sliding glass doors which open to a deck area that wraps the home and leads to an interior courtyard. The effect is a dissolving of conventional boundaries which separate interior and exterior space while still maintaining a sense of intimacy.
