2018 – COMMENDATION, Innovative Education Initiative, Learning Environments Australasia VIC Chapter Awards
The focus of this project was human centred design thinking. An extensive consultation process with a committee comprising representatives from secondary schools, tertiary education, research, industry, and community formed the basis for the successful development of spaces which enabled the prototyping and trialing of programs, spaces, and technology. This knowledge could then, in future, inform the development of the permanent facility.
By creating a deceptively simple yet unique educational environment, Monash Tech School is able to use the collaborative spaces to inform program development, technology, staffing levels, and student flow.
It serves as a lighthouse demonstrating the principles behind the Tech School Philosophy – Student and Teacher engagement in STEM, Engagement in the classroom, and the power of co-designed real-world problems.
