Norwegian fashion retailer Modo Store redefines the physical shopping experience with
a flexible, modular, and highly reflective interior designed by OFFICE INAINN. Located
in a 220 m² space, the store merges Scandinavian minimalism with industrial aesthetics,
using stainless steel, raw concrete, and locally sourced materials.
At its core, the design introduces 70 modular stainless-steel display units, which
can be rearranged to adapt the store’s function—from a fashion retail space to an
event venue. A linear display system along two main walls structures the layout, while
semi-reflective surfaces create a dynamic interplay of light, textures, and movement.
The facade features a steel mesh curtain, subtly revealing and concealing the store’s
interior, enhancing curiosity and engagement.
Sustainability is a key element of the design, with locally sourced materials and
Greenguard-certified textiles from Kvadrat in the fitting rooms. The renovation strate-
gy prioritized preserving existing architectural elements, reducing material waste, and
aligning with the ethos of Scandinavian fashion brands.
By blending mass production with bespoke design, Modo Store transforms retail into an
interactive and ever-evolving experience, where physical space enhances brand story-
telling in both real and digital realms.
