Located near Worlds End and offering remarkable views across Hingham Harbor to downtown Boston, this design incorporated a substantial reconstruction of and additions to a rare Hingham, MA mid-century modern ranch house. The plan illustrates how in restoring the original living room and pairing it with a new large double height eat-in kitchen, the center of the home was established as the family core. The two wings were then expanded to afford four bedrooms and a master suite on the private end of the house and a family room, office/ guest room and entry complex on the public side.
A new freestanding garage defines the edge of the outdoor dining patio and screens the rear yard from the street. The covered breezeway, which attaches the house to the garage is supported by slender steel columns and creates an expressive and clear entrance.
