Tasked with transforming a lackluster, retail space into a functional and contemporary coffee shop, Arcsine reconfigured the sloping floorplan and created a split-level layout to maximize space. With two entrances, the traffic flow and various areas of the shop were seamlessly integrated into the historic building’s existing structure.
Careful consideration was given to attract passersby, bold colors and graphic tiles draw the eye in from the street. Collaborating with Conor Sweitzer to fabricate elongated steel and wood, these custom counters wrap around the store to provide a beautiful and easily navigable design solution. Fluorescent tube lighting zigzags across the ceiling, suspended wire-frame sculptures and framed local artworks create an atmosphere of curated, playfulness.
