Miu Restaurant differentiates itself from other Japanese eateries in Barcelona by offering an original, east-meets-west interior design as opposed to the often simplistic, Zen-like decor of its competitors. Housed in a former underground car park, striking, large-scale elements include (the original) columns clad in Turkish blue tiles, oversized lanterns and standing lamps, traditional pottery, fringed curtains and Imperial Japanese wall art. Low muted lighting and subtle earth tones creates a calming ambiance; perfectly in keeping with the somewhat serious experience of Japanese dining, yet still thoroughly modern.
