To create a grand family home within the build capabilities and cost of our client. They wanted a vast open-plan structure, mirroring traditional European barns, but with a modern twist – including two separate wings for the children and parents and a communal space in the middle.
Our client knew exactly what they wanted except how to achieve it. The project was a balancing act between cost and aesthetic, and we needed to find appropriate methods that would allow them to save and self-build as much as possible.
The result was a stunning open plan structure that delivered on time, budget and visual impact. We created unhindered vistas across the house with glass barriers and floating stairwells that minimised visual disruption. Structurally engineered pine trusses were used to create an expansive vault in the middle of the house, which framed an open space, perfect for bringing the family together.
