The project is located in Shanghai, on the ground floor of a shopping mall along the street. It is a brand-new catering concept that primarily features the local specialties of Guizhou cuisine.
The origin of the project stems from the brand founder and designer's bold vision for a new type of dining experience. The unique flavors of Guizhou province are full of natural imagination and the vitality of food. We found the distinctive expression that belongs to this restaurant, hoping to convey this aspiration through the fusion of the spatial experience and the cuisine.
The appetizing Guizhou rice noodles, rice wine, and snacks have been brought to Shanghai, borrowing the traditional flavors and extending their beauty in a new setting, delivering the new energy of local cuisine to more people.
The relatively small project took nearly a year to construct, bringing far more than just a "delicious" dining experience. From the spatial design extending to the brand's visual identity, from the transition from main dishes to casual drinks, we aim to present a restaurant art that integrates the senses of taste and sight.
A natural aesthetic concept space: Our imagination of Guizhou is the geographical structure of "eight mountains, one river, and a field", the captivating mountain landscape, and the enchanting scenery everywhere. The seasonal scenery of red, green, and yellow colors, among the trees and between the peaks, makes one feel enlightened in body and mind.
These qualities form the inspiration for our creation. The entrance circulation is elongated, making the space akin to a natural cave in the city, with rich mountain elements and vegetation surrounding the environment, separated from yet naturally connected to the outdoor through the glass windows.
The ingredients used in the restaurant come from the gifts of the mountains and forests. In the space, we use a light and earthy color palette, hoping to bring a sense of clarity and ease, like observing nature in the city, while providing a relaxed and soothing dining environment.
In the material application, light-colored diatomaceous earth and custom-made wooden tables and chairs create the "sky" and "ground" of the entire space. At the end of the space, through the perforated stainless steel ceiling, a double-meaning representation is shown: the dappled tree shadows simulating a high mountain forest, as well as the handwoven bamboo baskets.
The restaurant opens from noon, from day to night, without the need to change venues, from a bowl of rice noodles to casual drinks.
In the gentle night, the refreshing weather, and the lively atmosphere, diners flock in. Feel the tropical greenery around the restaurant, and the twinkling candle lights in the city skyline. Whether it's the pleasure of drinking alone or the gathering with friends, it is a way to heal oneself. It is a scene to be savored on a summer night, whether drinking alone or in a small group.
