Milano 3 is being planned and constructed by Edilnord Progetti Spa, the architecture firm led by Giancarlo Ragazzi, using the same principles as were involved in the planning of Milano 2, designed and constructed by the same group of architects nearly 10 years before. It is located in the town of Basiglio on the south-west side of Milan, 13 km from the city-centre. It hosts 10.500 people and 3.300 housing units, and includes a Business Centre for 4.000 people that extends over a surface of 15 Ha. Furthermore 'Milano 3' has a day care centre, 3 nursery schools, an elementary school, a secondary school and several playgrounds. A Sporting Club with more than 20 tennis courts, an indoor swimming pool, an outdoor swimming pool, gyms, a physiotherapy centre and a public soccer field was among the first features constructed. There is also a shopping mall with over 40 stores, including a supermarket, boutiques, banks, hotel and public services. The town centre includes a city hall, an auditorium, a civic centre, and a library. As well as Milano 2, Milano 3 has a Road System that allows pedestrian pathways and bicycle paths to not cross the streets.
