Located on the edge of Lake Magog and south facing, this family’s second home is flooded with sun. Over 75 linear feet of full-height wooden windows face the lake, bringing each living space in direct contact with the beauty of the natural landscape.
The project is summarized by the positioning of two slightly offset volumes; a wooden pavilion with its private spaces is shared on two floors while a long horizontal stone covered pavilion offers a living space.
The two distinctive volumes are connected by a hall, opened on two floors. This connection offers a visual breakthrough from the street to the lake. The large horizontal stone wall of the kitchen allows the house to hide and create a more intimate interior from the street. A large fireplace covered with the same stone becomes the core of the house; standing out for its verticality, it is also the visual connection with the outside. The choice of natural stone and wood coverings makes the house more discreet by harmonizing with its environment.
