This recently completed “Miedzyborska 11” housing estate, designed by Grupa 5 Architekci, is located in Warsaw's Praga district and comprises 154 dwellings of medium and high standards. The main goal set by the designers was to maintain a green character, which was accomplished by splitting the development into singular buildings and by raising the garage slab above the street level to hide all car circulation areas. A “green podium” hid traffic underground and provided an additional open recreation space on top.
The architecture was shaped by opening views to the surroundings and maintaining all of the buildings’ sunlight access requirements, which created a dynamic slanted geometry.
Additional advantages of the development include a centrally located green area with a playground, a fully equipped fitness and spa center for residents, and pram and bicycle storage, which will help residents to safely store sport equipment and wheelchairs.
