The renovation of this one-bedroom penthouse completely transformed the character of the existing apartment. What was once a dark, cramped and featureless typical New York apartment became a light filled, spacious and unique environment. All windows, doors, interior walls and finishes were removed to open up the space. The terrace doors were relocated and enlarged and all windows replaced with high performance units to bring in more light while reducing heat loss. The kitchen was opened up to the rest of the apartment, carefully concealing top of the line appliances and adding color with exotic blue granite counters; white quartz floor tile defining the kitchen in contrast to the warmth of the Brazilian cherry flooring. A new working fireplace compliments the space, adding a focal point and warmth to the modern interior.
