Embracing the project’s “Living Lightly on the Land” philosophy, wood materials, readily available from local suppliers, were easily transported by hand to the remote building site and allowed for the construction of the 98 square foot structure by a single carpenter. Cladding of the cabin’s compact wood framed skeleton with exterior wood materials, finished to respect the natural tones of the surrounding forest, and the incorporation of interior wood finishes of species native to the site, will forever root the cabin into the surrounding natural landscape.
