Inspired by light, prevailing winds, vistas, space and the linear proportions of the site, this design reinterprets the Miami suburban house by taking apart the elements of the house into planes and rhythms of structure that both define and mix interior and exterior spaces. The design is also energy efficient and environmentally sensitive. Great effort was employed in the composition of planes and shade elements to ensure that the expansive glass surfaces are shielded from the intense heat of the tropical Miami sun. This creates a pleasant interior ambiance with views of beautiful tropical landscape and sky, as well as playful use of light and shadow. The walls are oriented with the length of the site and direct both the space and prevailing south east tropical winds into gathering areas where one enjoy the soft South Florida breeze and beautiful views of the golf course beyond.
