The client asked for a
contemporary concept of housing, functional but with strongly defined design. The
main concept was to provide sober spaces with special regard to the existing
layout configuration.
Thus both the original
context as well as the interests of the client emerged as the first generators
of the design.
Each of the 120 square
meters of the interior spaces was examined and distributed to meet the
requirement for a large sitting room with a dining area inside and a closest kitchen,
two children’s rooms, a bathroom and a new master bathroom.
The choice for a range
of bright colours and materials emphasizes the demand for natural light with special
regard about the use of a bright palette for new materials.
Contrasting white paints,
few grey walls and multiple heights ceiling recesses defines separate volumes
and surfaces.
Semi-translucent glass
slabs are used throughout to create random cut-shapes on the walls allowing
penetration of natural and artificial light, as well as the big steel door in
the corridor and the false ceiling with
shifting sharp geometries.
