The design of the Metro Pictures gallery focuses on allowing the visitor to encounter the space effortlessly and dedicate their attention to the art on display. Aluminum and glass panels on the façade expose the interior to the street and immediately offer views of the art. Beyond the entry, the user can see the continuous vista of exhibition spaces and understand the gallery’s visual and spatial hierarchy. A cantilevered staircase provides a layer of visual interest, transforming a functional requirement for access to additional galleries and offices into a sculptural element.
