The project consists of a wood cone placed on a hillock. The cone is metaphysical, it’s an expression of the natural forces rising towards the sky. Entrance is located between the two ramps of the tumulus. The circular plan of this new church is centered. The centre is dedicated to the faithful and the church altar. Around the annex seats forming an amphitheatre surmount additional rooms. An apse is located on each cardinal points of the building.A large ring protects the amphitheatre covered by a double solid wood cone. Roof structure is placed on a concrete ring circled by an earth thickness like certain traditional Scandinavian houses. Trees and grass are planted on this base. The double cone’s skin makes an excellent isolation as well as a indirect light diffuser. The church celebrates the meeting between earth and sky. During the day it’s a ground’s resurgence crossed by the celestial light. During the night it became a lantern guiding the faithful of Våler.
