Metamorphosis of Constructivism
Cinema "Pushkinskiy" -
a brilliant representative of the era of constructivism and rationalism
in architecture. However, the need to change the face of dictating to him the
city itself. The building, occupying a key position in the ensemble of Pushkin
Square, must not only integrate
harmoniously with the surroundings, but also carry a meaning, a kind of
architectural thought.
In our project we wanted to show how the architecture of Soviet
Constructivism cruelly transformed into the modern world.
This is - a symbol of metamorphosis occurring in our city. Pushkin
cinema remains the same, which was built in 1961, a new version he millstones
grind of modern architecture. Those stained glass windows, blank volumes, lung
passages and galleries, only released outside the rational construction of the
composition. Constructivism ceases to be himself, turning to deconstruction.
The familiar logic is missing. That is our understanding, a collective portrait
of contemporary architectural trends.
The same metamorphosis in our post-Soviet period originate from domestic
copyright cinema. Clothe, sometimes unusual, shocking form it takes, sometimes
frightening, destructive form. Our project represents the decline of Russian
cinema, his precarious and unstable situation.
The project used materials for the façade facing DuPont Corian and
DuPont SentryGlas - shiny shiny materials are designed to emphasize the
expressiveness of the building.
