40 hectars urban renewal Proposal for Mercafir area of Florence including 40.000 people new soccer stadium proposal.Presented by major at “ 100 luoghi “ 2011.Mercafir area represent a great opportunity for the city of Florence, the area is now filled by old pavillions and sheds which no more serve nowadays needs. That’s why following an intelligent land reuse politic the proposal reduces the commercial and productive Mercafir zone ( into the nuovo pignone area ) letting free a big area (between viale Guidoni e via da Schio) available for investments.Between the options the most intriguing is for sure the proposal for a new soccer stadium, which is in debate from long time in Florence. After an analysis of the land availables, you can realize that Mercafir area is actually the only one where the Stadium could be reasonably located.ConceptIn the definition of the area, the main ideas is to use an organic morphology able to become an inverse to the Historical urban fabric of Florence where streets and squares are cuts or voids into a continuous urban fabric.Following this principle starting from a green and sport equipments base which define a a big void, we add the volumes and the stadium as if they would be natural elements spontaneously growing.This way gets defined an organic morphology able to define a new area with its own identity and character able to enrich the already amazing urban variety of Florence.
