Nationally recognized interior designer based in Memphis, Tenn., Ami Austin, receives recognition amongst first-place winners of annual Designer of the Year competition

Ami Austin, principal designer and president of Ami Austin Interior Design based in Memphis, recently announced she was among the designers who placed first in the Interior Design Society’s “Designer of the Year” competitions. The news comes on the heels of the Interior Design Society (IDS) awards ceremony held in Scottsdale, Ariz., where Austin was awarded.

Austin’s design of a Memphis kitchen earned the top spot in the “Kitchens $50,000 and Above” category and was awarded by the competition’s judges panel, which consisted of nine industry experts: Mark Bruntez, Patti Carpenter, Susan Dickenson, Dann Foley, Susan Inglis, Nick May, Jaye Anna Mize, Farah Merhi, and Jennifer Wagner Schmidt.

According to Jenny Cano, IDS executive director, “This year, we received a record number of entries,” making Austin’s accolade an especially noteworthy distinction. The competition featured participants who represented a vast range of national territories, including Dallas, Texas; Long Island, New York; Oakland, California; Stamford, Connecticut; and several other regions. Austin’s first place award places Memphis among these design-savvy cities.

A seasoned and experienced interior designer, Austin has received numerous other awards in previous years and competitions, and was named by the Interior Design Society as “Designer of the Year” numerous years. She is also the owner and founder of P&B Design Source based in Memphis, Tenn. Learn more: www.amiaustininteriors.com.
