Memory Recycling

A low income burial option for families who do not have sufficient means to provide a lavish funeral. A cemetery of sorts, used to house the memories of the deceased in a funerary vessel with the addition of a recycling center. The remains of the deceased are discarded and the memories of the person are encapsulated in the funerary vessel and viewed via film and still photo projection. The columbarium provides a space for the family to focus on the history and memory of the person without outside distractions.
The vessels are stored on the wall system and are specific to an individual only in its contents and not in its appearance. The vessel is removed from the wall and placed on a pedestal within a niche where a film or still photo projection memorializes the deceased.
The recycling center is intended to provide a place to disburse items that the family will find no use for but do not want to dispose of because of sentimental value. The recycling allows the deceased possessions to be staged as intended to allow others to experience the life of the lost ones; while providing the less fortunate free goods such as shoes, china, cookware, furniture or any other items a family finds sentimentally valuable, but of no personal use. With one’s lose, another gains.
