MELI — A Living Network Between Technology, City and People

Located in Bogotá, Colombia, MELI is the new workplace for Mercado Libre, designed by Interior 1 by ARE – Arquitectura en Estudio as an environment where architecture becomes a catalyst for connection. Rather than conceiving the office as a collection of workstations, the project proposes a dynamic ecosystem that strengthens relationships between people, technology, nature and the city.

The project is guided by the concept CO-NET-TEAM, a narrative that merges the ideas of connection, network and teamwork. This vision understands the workplace as a living infrastructure where collaboration is encouraged through spatial experience. Flexible work areas, collaborative lounges, interactive meeting rooms and informal gathering spaces support multiple ways of working while promoting wellbeing, creativity and adaptability.

At the heart of the office, a sculptural central staircase becomes more than a circulation element—it functions as a social connector, encouraging spontaneous encounters and reinforcing the sense of community between teams. Inspired by the biological principle of symbiosis, the architecture integrates organic forms, vegetation and natural references to create balanced relationships between the built environment and its users.

Bogotá’s identity is deeply embedded in the project through the reinterpretation of brick, a material intrinsic to the city’s architectural heritage. Combined with contemporary finishes, advanced technology and curated artworks, it creates a warm and sophisticated atmosphere that is unmistakably local while reflecting Mercado Libre’s innovative spirit. A large suspended mobile celebrating Bogota’s altitude and murals by Alejandro Paucar further connect the interior with the city’s cultural landscape.

More than a corporate office, MELI is a workplace designed to evolve with its community: a living network where people, ideas and architecture grow together.
