At the evangelic
convention centre Boldern a concrete sculpture is embedded into a cluster of
buildings of different styles. Two intertwined, hyperbolically formed walls in exposed concrete protect an
amorphous interior. The mysterious sculpture impresses through movement. The
surprised visitor passes through a continuously narrower entrance and steps out
of a lively environment into a highly meditative, bright and spacious room.
Three minimal openings are hidden between construction elements reduced to the
core. Depending on daytime and weather the light is reflected on light grey
walls, thereby creating a highly contemplative atmosphere. A curved neon spiral
illuminates the slightly yellow ceiling dynamically from the centre towards the
outside. The only furniture, a continuous bench, leads the visitors out of the
meditative space into a sheltered, gravelled outside area. It is protected from
other activities and receives direct sunshine during morning and afternoon
hours.
