On Friedrich-Ebert-Straße, a new 3-storey building was constructed as a service and residential building in the direct vicinity of the service building likewise planned by planquadrat in Ingelheim. The ground floor and the 1st floor are used as a media library, the 2nd floor as a residential floor with 6 rental units.
The cubic solitary building with its bright natural stone facade forms the defining spatial edge of the future quarter square and joins up with the Ebert-Carrée construction in the northern direction.
The calm overall shape is excitingly accentuated by clearly defined window and loggia cutouts that gives a hint of the use as media library. The readability of the residential use was consciously withdrawn.
The media library is being developed over the public square. A second entrance in the south-eastern corner serves as access for the employees of the media library and access to the apartments on the second floor.
On the ground floor, along with the entrance area with information desk, there is a children, group and multi-function area with adjoining reading court in the outside area. It can be adjoined to the media library via a large sliding door and ends in a garden that goes up to the Ebert-Carrée. In the centre of the media library there is an open staircase that functions as an inner link to the media library levels.
The residential courtyard on the second floor can be reached via the entrance on the south-eastern corner of the building and the downstream staircase with elevator. Four of the six apartments can be reached from here. Two other apartments can be reached directly from the staircase.
